I read my first personal development book some 22 years ago and was ever since hooked. Thru the years I had the honor and the privilege to learn from many teachers, one of those teachers is Dr. Napoleon Hill whose whose writings I can never get enough of. I just stumbled onto one of his beautiful essay on life and wanted to share with you here today.
“Life, you can’t subdue me because I refuse to take your discipline too seriously. When you try to hurt me, I laugh — and the laughter knows no pain. I appreciate your joys wherever I find them; your sorrows neither frighten nor discourage me, for there is laughter in my soul.
“Temporary defeat does not make me sad. I simply set music to the words of defeat and turn it into a song. Your tears are not for me, for I like laughter much better, and because I like it, I use it as a substitute for grief and sorrow and pain and disappointment.
“Life, you are a fickle trickster — don’t deny it. You slipped the emotion of love into my heart so that you might use it as a thorn with which to prick my soul — but I learned to dodge your trap with laughter. Reading the title, you might be thinking that it is a silly question, that of course you are worthy of success, but really, are you? Deep down inside you, do you feel worthy of being successful? So really the world is our oyster, we can be, do, have anything that is in our hearts desire provided that we work on one thing and one thing only and that is our sense of worthiness.
The most important conversations we have in our lives are those we have with ourselves. However, most people do not pay much attention to them, they often labeled them as self-talk and leave at that. Little do they know that self-talk, when it is positive, is a great tool for shaping and raising our self-esteem, it is also important for building our confidence. On the other side of the coin, saying negative things to ourselves can be also as detrimental.
In other words, we have the power to build ourselves up or break ourselves down, the choice is ours. We become what we think about, we think about what we tell ourselves. Let’s focus on the positive for, what we focus on expands. In this post I would to share a text that many of us can use as a positive self-talk. It is from Og Mandino’s “The greatest salesman in the world II”. Believe me, it would not hurt to memorize it and have this conversation with
